Looking Back at 2025: Wins of a South Minneapolis Adult Day Care

It’s the end of an era. What era you might ask? The era of 2025, Mount Olivet Day Services’ (MODS) 30th year of business in South Minneapolis, Minnesota providing adult day care services. It’s been a whirlwind of a year here at MODS, but we are so grateful to reflect on our small wins in 2025 and look forward to the future. Therefore, we are celebrating and highlighting all the amazing-ness of this year with you.
February & April 2025: Welcomed Two New Members to the Team
Kicking off the year, we welcomed Alysha Grant to our team in February, 2025. She was brought on originally as the part-time Marketing/Admissions Manager, and was promoted to Marketing & Admissions Director in October of this year. She handles all of our social media pages, blog articles, website pages, and helps families through the admissions and enrollment process.
Then, in April, we welcomed a new program staff member, Mahlika Nieman (known as her nickname, “Mimi”). Mahlika has been a great asset to the program team at MODS, providing personal care assistance, lunch serving duties, and recreational games. She dedicates her time to ensure that all of our participants feel welcome and adequately cared for.
May, 2025: Launching Our New Website
Our Executive Director Stephanie, Alysha, and the team at Malley Design worked together for two and a half months to get the new website launched and ready by May, 2025. A new website was long overdue, and thanks to the Malley team, we swiftly got the website up and running in under three months. The new and improved website was made to be user-friendly, all-abilities accessible, and easier to navigate for current and prospective families.

July, 2025: Grand Opening of Our New Deck
Mount Olivet Day Services used to an intergenerational day center, meaning we used to serve young children in addition to adults. After Covid-19, the board decided to make MODS an adults-only facility in 2022. Therefore, in the fall of 2024, we tore down the old playground and a lovely new deck was built for our adult participants to enjoy during the warmer months.
Summer of 2025 was the first time we could utilize the new deck. What better way to open it up than with a Grand Opening party? We offered snacks, refreshing beverages, music, and we even had a ribbon cutting to commemorate the new deck.
Since the grand opening, the deck has been a fantastic space for our participants to engage in activities, such as coloring, tie-dying shirts, and yard games.

September, 2025: Celebrating Our 30-Year Anniversary
September of 2025 was a big month for us; MODS officially celebrated 30 years of providing services in South Minneapolis. We invited former staff, volunteers, current staff and volunteers, friends, and family to join us for a 30-year anniversary party. We had a spectacular turnout. It was awe-inspiring to have all new and former staff/volunteers in one place, celebrating one mission: care and connection.
November, 2025: Donated 296 lbs of Items to the VEAP Food Drive
In the spirit of Thanksgiving and gratitude, Mount Olivet Day Services ran a food drive for three weeks, collaborating with Mount Olivet Homes to expand our efforts. Overall, 296 pounds (lbs) of food & personal care items were donated to the VEAP on Friday, November 21st. We are overwhelmed with everyone’s generosity and want to say thank you!

Year-Round: Enrolled Over Forty (40) New Participants to Our Program
Over the course of 12 months, over forty (40) new adults were enrolled into our program. That equals approximately 3-4 new participants per month! Mount Olivet Day Services is licensed to have a maximum of 35 participants each day of the week; with schedule and life changes, we have welcomed a lot of families through our day and look forward to welcoming more.
Looking Forward to 2026
What a year it’s been and what a year it will be going forward! We have two fun field trips planned thanks to donors who contributed to our fundraiser: Sea Life at Mall of America and the Museum of Russian Art. We will be planning these field trips in late spring/early summer once the weather warms up.
We also received great feedback from our 2025 Satisfaction Survey. There were numerous kind words and families’ feedback helps us move forward into 2026 with new goals and ideas to improve the care we provide as an adult day care center. Cheers to a fantastic 2025 and to another great year ahead!
